Brow Lift / Forehead Lift

What is a Brow Lift / Forehead Lift?

A brow lift, sometimes called a forehead lift is surgery to improve the appearance of the forehead area including sagging brows. This procedure is used to improve these areas:

  • Raise sagging brows that may hood the upper eyelids
  • Reduce wrinkles that are across the forehead or on the bridge of the nose between the eyes
  • Improve frown lines/vertical creases between the eyebrows
  • Change the placement of eyebrows to a more alert and youthful position

Other cosmetic procedures that may be performed with a brow lift include:

  • Upper and/or lower eyelids blepharoplasty
  • Facelift
  • Laser Skin resurfacing
  • Injectable fillers including fat transfer

What You Can Expect:

After your consultation with the doctor, a customized procedure and follow up plan will be made for you. Dr. Paciorek uses a proprietary delicate touch method which will support your healing process. The surgical procedure will be done in our private in-office surgical suite with your own individual recovery area and nurse. Typically, a Brow Lift takes about an hour.

The Brow Lift Procedure:

Anesthesia is provided and can be either intravenous or general anesthesia depending on your needs. Brow lifts can be done directly or using endoscopic or coronal methods, this will depend on the nature of the brow lift being done.

Endoscopic incision involves using an endoscope (a thin tube with a camera on the end) and specialized instruments placed through small incisions made within the hairline to adjust the tissue and muscle under the skin. Coronal incision may be used depending on the procedure and is created from ear to ear across the top of the head, within the hair-bearing skin. Then the forehead skin is then lifted and muscle adjustment can be made. The resulting scar from a coronal brow lift is well concealed within the hair.

Brow lift incisions typically are closed with sutures, adhesives or surgical tape.

After Your Brow Lift Procedure:

Our staff will care for you in our private recovery area and you will be able to leave the office through a separate exit. You will be assisted in your recovery process by our trained nurses and support staff.

Your head may be wrapped to minimize swelling/bruising. Sometimes a thin tube may be required to drain blood or fluid. You will be given post-operative instructions that may include:

Other questions to address with Dr. Paciorek about what you can expect recovery period include:

  • Medications needed after surgery
  • Details on caring for dressings/bandages
  • When to remove stitches or sutures
  • What activities to avoid during recovery

Partial healing of the incision area typically takes 10 to 14 days when normal activity can be resumed. Dr. Paciorek carries Jane Iredale cosmetics which are designed to help camouflage bruising.

Healing will continue for several months for your complete recovery.

Insurance does not generally cover surgery that is purely for cosmetic reasons. Surgery to correct or improve birth defects or traumatic injuries may be reimbursable in whole or in part. It is the patient’s responsibility to check with the insurance carrier for information on the degree of coverage.
